Many clients believe a smoke alarm service is just pressing the test button—but there’s a lot more to it. At FNQ Smoke Alarms & Maintenance, our technicians carry out a number of steps to ensure all the smoke alarms throughout your property are compliant with current
legislation. The steps include:
- Locating all smoke alarms on the premises
- Checking the number and location of each smoke alarm in accordance with the relevant building code. If an alarm is not positioned correctly, the property is not compliant, and it will need to be relocated
- Smoke alarms are installed, replaced or relocated if required
- All smoke alarm batteries are tested and replaced if required
- The test button is pushed on each smoke alarm to ensure proper function
- A decibel tester is used to ensure smoke alarms are over 75 decibels
- Once all smoke alarms are in working order and in the right location, the property is deemed compliant
The owner/manager of the property will receive a letter of Service and Compliance once the property has been serviced. This will outline the service provided, the current location of alarms (in compliance with AS and BCA), a decibel reading, and whether the property is compliant regarding new smoke alarm laws.
